"We're going to have 21st century fireside chats where I'll speak directly to the American people in a way that I think will enhance democracy and strengthen our government. “ -
Senator Barack Obama
, November 15, 2007
Tomorrow evening, President Obama will deliver his final State of the Union address to Congress, which will broadcast
live on YouTube
. Then, as he has every year after the speech, he’ll turn to YouTube and Google to take questions from Americans about the issues that matter to them.
This Friday, January 15,
Destin Sandlin
,
Ingrid Nilsen
, and
Adande Thorne
—three popular YouTube creators—will travel to Washington, D.C. to host a live YouTube Interview with President Obama. They’ll join the President in the East Room of the White House, asking a selection of questions that are top of mind for them and their fans. You can watch the whole thing on the
White House YouTube channel
—and if you have a question for the President, suggest it by using the hashtag #YouTubeAsksObama on social media.
The interview will stream live on the
White House YouTube channel
at 2:15 p.m. EST. And don’t forget to tune in on January 12 at 9 p.m. EST to
watch the State of the Union address live
, as well as
the Republican response
, live on YouTube.
Throughout his time in office, President Obama has used technology to open up the doors (
all 412 of them
) to the White House—from posting behind-the-scenes
photos
of life in the West Wing to uploading a
weekly address
on the most pressing topics facing the nation. We’re excited to have played a role in this process with our seven YouTube Interviews, tackling issues
big
and
small
,
poignant
and
personal
. We look forward to helping future presidents connect with Americans in compelling ways.

YouTube Creators interview President Obama following the State of the Union

Every year since 2010
, President Obama has turned to YouTube and Google after his State of the Union speech to answer questions that are top of mind for the American people. Asked through YouTube video submissions or live via Google+ Hangouts, these questions always bring an interesting perspective to the issues the president addresses in his speech. This year we’re doing something we’ve never done before: bringing a handful of YouTube creators directly to the White House to talk with the president in person in a live broadcast on Thursday, January 22.
YouTube creators
Bethany Mota
,
GloZell Green
and
Hank Green
will interview President Obama about the top concerns facing them and their audiences. Over the next few days, the creators will ask you to share the questions you have for the president, some of which may be asked during the interview. In years past, people across the United States have used this interview to ask important questions about jobs, immigration and even
Valentine’s Day
. Use #YouTubeAsksObama on social media to suggest issues that are important to you or any questions that are on your mind.
Finally, don’t forget to tune in on January 20 at 9 p.m. EST to watch the
State of the Union address
, as well as the
Republican response
, live on YouTube.

2014年1月28日火曜日
It’s a busy week in Washington, but you don’t need to be in the nation’s capital to be a part of it. YouTube will deliver each big moment live.
Tonight at 9 p.m. ET, President Obama’s fifth State of the Union address will stream live on
the White House’s YouTube channel
, followed by the Republican response by Representative Cathy McMorris Rodgers on
Speaker Boehner’s channel
. Senator Mike Lee will deliver the
Tea Party response
and Senator Rand Paul will offer
remarks
as well. Several of our news partners will also share their coverage of the event on YouTube, including the
New York Times
,
Wall Street Journal
,
Washington Post
,
The Young Turks
, and
NowThis News
.
This Friday at 2 p.m. ET, President Obama will participate in the
first-ever Presidential Hangout Road Trip
. He’ll “travel” the country and hop into Google+ Hangouts with people from across the nation to answer their questions and hear their thoughts about the topics he addressed in tonight’s speech.
If you’d like to join the Hangout, record a 60-second video with your name, location, a bit about yourself and the question you’d like to ask the president. Then post it on YouTube with the hashtag #AskObama2014.
