YouTube brings E3 to you wherever you are
Tuesday, May 24, 2016
Last year, millions of gamers came together on YouTube for the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). We watched as Bethesda unveiled “Fallout 4,” and many of us had our prayers answered when Square Enix shared a first look at the “Final Fantasy VII” remake. For more than a few gamers, E3 is the must-see gaming event of the year, an annual moment that defines the industry (and our collective wallets) for the coming 12 months.
YouTube will give gamers around the world front-row access to everything E3 again this year with dozens of live streams scheduled throughout the week. To make moments like this even better, we are launching event pages in
YouTube Gaming
, which serve as destinations for watching the biggest gaming and eSports events. Kicking things off, we’ll have a unique event hub for E3, available at
gaming.youtube.com/e3
in June.
A home for live streams and on-demand videos, the YouTube Gaming E3 hub will put all our E3 coverage in one place. You’ll be able to browse videos and streams, chat live with fellow gamers, vote for your favorite trailers in the legendary Trailer Battle, and catch up on announcements you might have missed.
Coverage begins on Sunday, June 12, with early press conferences from EA and Bethesda. Stay tuned on YouTube after the press conferences because you won't want to miss post-coverage from our friends at
Rooster Teeth
- who will be streaming from the conference throughout the week.
The play-by-play coverage continues on Monday, June 13 at 9 a.m. PT, with
YouTube Live at E3
, an exclusive 12-hour stream hosted by Geoff Keighley and brought to you by Samsung. Live at E3 will bring you the live coverage of press conferences you crave along with developer interviews, live let’s plays of new games you won’t find anywhere else, and surprise guests like
MatPat
,
iHasCupquake
and
CaptainSparklez
.
Speaking about MatPat, if you’re in L.A. before E3, make sure to stop by the YouTube Space LA for a fan event on June 8 and a peek at
MatPat's Game Lab
. RSVP

See you at E3!

A YouTube built for gamers
Friday, June 12, 2015
As a kid, I spent hours on the living room couch playing video games with friends, taking turns trying to beat Ganon in "Ocarina of Time" and trading Pokémon until I had all 151. Soon controller passing and Game Boy link cables gave way to network multiplayer and PC LAN parties. Eventually, my living room became a virtual one, with a network of gamers sharing experiences and discoveries.
Today, the gaming world is much more diverse than the one I grew up with, and the community has created new formats that have made gaming more collaborative and interactive. On YouTube, gaming has spawned entirely new genres of videos, from
let’s plays
,
walkthroughs
, and
speedruns
to
cooking
and
music videos
. Now, it’s our turn to return the favor with something built just for gamers.
This summer, we'll launch
YouTube Gaming
, a brand new app and website to keep you connected to the games, players, and culture that matter to you, with videos, live streams, and the biggest community of gamers on the web—all in one place.
YouTube Gaming is built to be all about your favorite games and gamers, with more videos than anywhere else. From "Asteroids" to "Zelda," more than 25,000 games will each have their own page, a single place for all the best videos and live streams about that title. You’ll also find channels from a wide array of game publishers and YouTube creators.
Keeping up with these games and channels is now super easy, too. Add a game to your collection for quick access whenever you want to check up on the latest videos. Subscribe to a channel, and you'll get a notification as soon as they start a live stream. Uncover new favorites with recommendations based on the games and channels you love. And when you want something specific, you can search with confidence, knowing that typing “call” will show you “Call of Duty” and not “Call Me Maybe.”
Live streams bring the gaming community closer together, so we’ve put them front-and-center on the YouTube Gaming homepage. And in the coming weeks, we’ll launch an improved live experience that makes it simpler to broadcast your gameplay to YouTube. On top of existing features like
high frame rate streaming at 60fps
, DVR, and automatically converting your stream into a YouTube video, we’re redesigning our system so that you no longer need to schedule a live event ahead of time. We’re also creating single link you can share for all your streams.
YouTube Gaming will be available this summer, starting in the U.S. and U.K. We’re building this just for gamers—so we want to hear from you about how we can make it the best way to connect with your community. If you’re at
E3
next week, come by our booth for an early look at everything we’ve been working on. If not, tune in live from home at
youtube.com/e3
, head over to
gaming.youtube.com
and follow us
@YouTubeGaming
and you’ll be the first to know when YouTube Gaming is ready for you to play with.

Get your game on with YouTube during E3
Tuesday, June 2, 2015
We’re now only two weeks away from the start of the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles, and you can get a front-row seat to the action with YouTube! We're inviting your favorite YouTube creators to show us what's cool and coming up next in the world of gaming, so you can experience every jaw-dropping demo and announcement LIVE.
We are building out a dedicated E3 YouTube hub where you will be able to follow all the live streams and trailers from the event, starting on Sunday, June 14, with the
Nintendo World Championships
, followed by the Bethesda press conference and the unveiling of
the latest installment in the "Doom" series
.
On Monday, June 15, at 9 a.m. PT, the wall-to-wall coverage will continue with a 12-hour live stream marathon, hosted by Geoff Keighley, brought to you by the movie
“Self/less”
- in theaters July 10. Geoff and YouTube gaming creators will bring you live coverage of press conferences from publishers like Xbox, Sony, EA and Ubisoft.
The program will include live “Let’s plays” of new titles, plus celebrity interviews along with other video game stars from the YouTube family. You'll also get live coverage from
IGN
and
GameSpot
, just like last year.
The play-by-play coverage will continue with hundreds of hours of live and on-demand content throughout the week directly from YouTube’s booth at E3, hosted by
RoosterTeeth
, along with our legendary Trailer Battle, Nintendo’s Digital Event and Treehouse Live, as well as other exclusive gaming content.
From live reactions and gaming demos, to trivia showdowns and “Meet the Makers” sessions with industry experts, the E3 YouTube hub will offer you the easiest place to explore the best of E3. Stay tuned starting on June 14.

Top E3 game trailers based on your votes
Wednesday, June 29, 2011
This year’s E3 gaming expo produced a fresh crop of new game trailers to pour over, critique and get excited about. For two weeks, you’ve been voting for your favorites on the
E3 channel
and now the results are in.
The game that you got most excited about? Step forward Saints Row: The Third, whose “
power CG
” trailer delivered high-impact cinematics and what looks suspiciously like a CG cameo from the ubiquitous Ashton Kutcher. Congratulations to publisher THQ and developer Volition Inc, and check it out here:
Running down the remaining top trailers, we give the nod to:
Battlefield 3: Operation Metro Multiplayer Gameplay Trailer (E3)
INVERSION E3 2011 -- Official Trailer
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Reveal Trailer
Gears of War 3 World Premiere Trailer
You can see all five trailers on the
E3 channel
until the end of June. For more of what’s hot in gaming, you can see popular videos, gaming channels and more on our
gaming browse
page, and catch more trailers in our
trailers section

US gamers look out, E3 gaming expo is live on YouTube
Monday, June 6, 2011
It’s one of the most wonderful times of the year for gamers with the return of E3, the gaming industry’s annual tradeshow in Los Angeles. The
E3 YouTube channel
will be carrying live streaming coverage from the gaming experts at
IGN
, starting with today’s pre-E3 press conferences and through the first two days of the show.
For our casual and non-gaming readers, E3 is an annual showcase where gaming companies go all out to create buzz around their upcoming titles. You typically need to be connected to the games industry to attend, but as we continue to give you front row seats to
local
and
world
events, you can now share in the E3 excitement as it happens. Expect to see new game demos, developer interviews, expert analysis and more. Check the
E3 channel
for a daily schedule of events.
The E3 live stream is only available to US gamers, but there will be plenty of up-to-the-minute content posted on the channels of IGN and many other gaming-focused partners. If you’ve been waiting all year for E3, it’s time to sit back and salivate, as gaming’s big guns attempt to wow their way onto your holiday shopping list.
