The Slow Mo Guys are April’s “On The Rise” winners

Rabu, 27 April 2011

The Slow Mo GuysOn The RiseYouTube homepagebirds of prey swoopingdroplets collidingball to the face"I have loved watching stuff in slow motion ever since I was a kid. I used to watch fight scenes from movies frame by frame on VHS so I could see all the action. When I got the opportunity to work with high speed cameras I saw this as my opportunity to film as many things as possible in super slow motion. I have been doing it for about 6 years now as a profession, but only recently got a computer powerful enough to deal with such massive files for my own show! Looking at things in slow motion makes you realise what you actually miss out on when you see things at "human speed". Sometimes you see something completely unexpected, sometimes can see how stuff works and sometimes stuff in slow motion just makes you laugh! It has been a great honour to participate in YouTube's On The Rise contest. I would like to thank everyone who voted for us and to welcome all our new subscribers!" Your great sports video. Shown on SportsCenter. Here’s how.

Jumat, 18 Maret 2011

One of the most beautiful things about sports on YouTube is that, on any given day, the best play wins. It can come from a professional athlete in a 35,000 seat arena, or from an inspirational 11-year old swimmer from Hendersonville, Tennessee.

Just in time for March Madness basketball in the US, we’re happy to tip-off the second version of the YouTube + SportsCenter Your Highlight program presented by AT&T – a chance to have your best play shown on air on SportsCenter:

Go to ESPN’s YouTube channel, check out the rules, and submit your great sports video before May 5, 2011. SportsCenter’s Emmy-winning producers will select the best videos, which will then be voted on by the YouTube community. The winner will be flown to ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn., for the taping of a special segment on SportsCenter.

Even if you’re not submitting a video, come back to the channel to see a gallery of the best submissions throughout the season. Good luck!

What makes an ad worth spreading?

Selasa, 21 Desember 2010

Today we bring you a guest post from Chris Anderson, Curator of TED, a nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Anderson explains how TED and YouTube are teaming up to present a challenge called 'Ads Worth Spreading'.
TED.comon YouTube
Our mission -- of spreading ideas around the world -- is supported in part by advertising. And we believe that advertising should evoke the same emotions a TEDTalk does -- it should make you think, make you respond, make you want to share -- a great idea, a product that makes the world better, an initiative that might change the world. Like YouTube, we want to see the same level of passion in online ads as we do in our TEDTalks. So, we’ve created a challenge called 'Ads Worth Spreading' to solicit the best ads that raise the bar, elevate the craft and invent new forms of online engagement.

We invite you to enter the competition. Entries can be hysterically funny, stunningly beautiful, or just intriguing, fascinating, ingenious and persuasive. For inspiration, check out examples of great creative on YouTube Show and Tell. It is free to enter, the submission deadline is February 7, 2011, and full contest rules are right here.

We’re excited to see your ads worth spreading!
