Excellent news! Eh, wait a minute! Does this mean that we will have to wait another 5 years to be allowed to publish further 5 extra minutes? :) Cheers, guys!
Awesome news for regular users. I'm glad to see it. Though few have the patience to watch a video over 5 minutes let alone 10 or 15. It is nice if you are uploading footage of a long talk, less parts to break it up into.
The weird thing is that I just saw this, at 1:57pm and it wasn't there before SO YAY 15 MINUTES LOL EVERYONE CAN NOW UPLOAD FULL EPISODES OF MORE THAN 10 MINUTES OF COPYRIGHT MATERIAL lmfao
So in the matter of four years it took YouTube to go from special director accounts that enabled videos to be longer than 10 minutes to 10 minutes being the maximum to 15 minutes. On top of that, just about every video website has absolutely no time limit to uploaded videos.
So, thanks for trying, but let's hope that you guys can figure out thirty minutes before 2030. At least you guys listened to your ENTIRE community for once.
"We want videos longer than 10 minutes!" "Okay, here you go! 5 more minutes!"
It's kinda like: "Mommy, I want to go to bed later than 9:00!" "Okay sweetie, how about 9:05?"
I don't think 5 extra minutes is what the millions of users meant when they asked for more than 10 minutes. Also, there's still users who can post longer than that because they signed up before the date the 10 minute limit was imposed.
On a related note, the new subscription bar at the bottom of the screen is annoying. There's a lot of people saying this.
YES! Thank you YouTube! No longer will I have to spend more time rendering a vlog on my vlogs channel because it's over 11 minutes! Thank you so much! Now I can do this without the worry of having to become partner on my vlogs! THANKS!
~Hopefully now some people will stop complaining. -wcooper97 : )
That's great. Although in all honesty I'm still wondering why the Next In queue doesn't work for user playlists if you open the video from the user's channel. It used to be this way, but not anymore - save for Partner videos.
This is FANTASTIC news especially for my audience of bloggers that love YouTube to do marketing on their blogs. I have let my readers know and I hope one of them is featured in the 15 Minutes of Fame promotion..
I don't really understand the idea of the given video theme , could we perhaps do it in the form of a vlog talking about Youtubes chnage of the limit to 15 minutes?
I don't care, just remove that stupid gray bar and turn autoplay back off. Who the hell actually wants autoplay? It's so incredibly annoying, and it can't be turned off! Fix it!
This is quite meaningful. I've been planning on making some lengthy art, but this extension removes what had me hesitating.
But if the reason for doing this is faith in the ContentID, why isn't the limit completely removed? That would enable great creation of amateur movies would benefit the movie industry finding new talents. I personally would have use for making 25 minute works, but 15 is still an improvement.
OMG yes! The first good thing YouTube has done in a LONG time! Thank you! This means so much to me because nearly half of my over 200 videos have a Part 2 (3, 4) to them because of the 10 minute limit!
Now please, replace that black bar with the old autoplay on the side. There was nothing wrong with it, and it actually let you turn off autoplay indefinately. I am glad you made this change with the time limit, but adding the bar really just made my happiness fall... It doesn't work efficiently, and the old autoplay was much more concealed to the point where if you wanted it, you could use it, but didn't have to turn it off on every single video you watch...
So it WAS entirely a matter of attempting to protect copyrighted materials. Now as long as fair use law is considered, as well as basic sanity checks employed, we might stand a chance...
This is something I've been craving for for a long time. Thank you YouTube. Hopefully with less problems with copyright issues, we can extend the limit even longer in the future.
Turn the AUTOPLAY feature OFF by DEFAULT!!! I want to replay some parts of the vids im watching, so its really irritating to have to wait to hit the back button again from some vid that i might not watch then, this is so painful for us users with a slow internet connection...
That's neat and good, and as soon as I develope a long-enough attention-span to sit down and create something 15 minutes long, I'll be glad you made the option of uploading it. Good on ya!
Your "state-of-the-art" Content ID system is a disgusting abuse and giant slap in the face of a little something called Fair Use. But it's obviously youtube doesn't give a damn about Fair Use.
Too bad you didn't increase the size as well, now there will be longer movies in similarly quality whereas a bigger size limit could have allowed for higher quality movies.
What on earth does copyright have to do with this topic? Do we really have to clear everything in our lives through the evil oligopoly that controls all intellectual property and manipulates the law in their favor? Could we just have a nice press release without a reminder of "COPYRIGHT-POLICE STATE! WE WILL CRUSH YOU!"
This is great and all, but can you please turn off the auto play feature (or at least give us the option to turn it off without having to do it every time)?
Fortunately, with FireFox and Adblock Plus, I was able to eliminate that annoying bar at the bottom of the screen though, so that's no longer an issue. Not for me anyway.
You guys keep pushing all of these "features" that most of us don't want, with no option to turn them off, but that doesn't seem to matter to you.
Finally! Thank you So much. As an Event Videographer and Member of YouTube since 2005. I wished I signed up for a Directors account back in 2006/2007 where that would've been the only way to upload beyond the 10 minute mark, but I didn't.
This was the only feature I asked for as an Avid YouTube User for years and my Audience would be very pleased.
Why does the youtube player unconditionally advance to the next video in the list if I play a video from my subscriptions? Why is there no way to disable this? I hate this and wish to disable it, but there doesn't seem to be an options menu anywhere either. Sorry to rant in an unrelated place, but I know no other way to air my grievances.
OH THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!! AND THANK YOU!!!! YOU LOVE YOU!! AND THANK YOU!!!! WE ARE FRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!! GOD BLESS YOU!!!! THANK YOU!!!! THANK YOU!!!! OMG THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks for increasing the time limit. I'm sure many users will take advantage of this right away. Personally I like to keep my tutorials under 3 minutes because that's about all my audience can sit still for. Everyone is so busy these day. Thanks again!
Why do you people keep messing about with the play list options? Now I have an amazingly annoying pop up at the bottom of my screen which doesn't seem to have the random player function.
I wonder what it is you people think is the appeal of your site?
yay :) im reallyhappy about this :) but what about the other things like the "other chanels " feature and the "autoplay " feature .I have taken advantage of these features since we already have them . But i think you should reserve those and all of the other partner advances to the youtube partner and not be letting all youtube users have them because, Partnership is something you have to work for and those were 2 major things i wanted when i become a partner
I noticed you didn't mention the bar which comes up under the videos. I hope you remove that immediately... Or at least allow me to turn it off, foor good!
Thats a very good and nice feature. Thanks Youtube. Watch at my channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/LivedabeiiRedaktion There I made my first 15 minute video. Lg, LDR°
How for those who have director accounts? It seems that those with older ones have unlimited time for uploading. I have video content up to 3 hours and I rather not break them into chunks.
YouTube needs to stop being retarded. They could have time frames that fit the account type:
Free: - Default user: 10 minutes - Pro User: 30 min Paid (with a nominal yearly/monthly/length over X min fee) - Short film maker: 1 hr - Film maker: 2 hour etc.
Why they don't do this is beyond me. If a short film maker can pay YouTube a nominal fee for a certain number of 31-60 min uploads a year, they would, and YouTube would make money.
If an independent film maker could pay for posting up to 2 2-hour long films a year for a nominal fee, they would, and YouTube makes money.
I say nominal fee because if you can charge $20-$40 a year for ad-supported films, and more for ad-less films, you get more people and make money.
Hello, I wish to report a parental control exploit. Using sports illustrated minisodes as an example: You start out at season III, episode I. You put the browser in fullscreen, and skip to the end of the video. Wait, and the next video plays, even though it is banned for people under 18.
wow ... nice too know , thanks to your new censorship system , somehow you were able to change the upload limit to 15minutes ! makes perfect sense ! i guess that means horray for censorship !!!
Sweet! I was just wondering the other day if YouTube would increase their length limit... But, PLEASE get rid of the new playlist bar at the bottom. SOOO ANNOYING!!! (Especially on netbooks with extremely limited vertical screen real-estate!)
This is exciting and all, but this looks like the only change you've ever made upon comminuty request. What were you guys doing when everyone was outraged by the new channel designs? The new YouTube design? Now there's this new and highly annoying autoplay bar at the bottom of the screen that nobody ever wanted or asked for. Clean up all those mistakes and then I'll be happy.
Why'd you change the homepage? There was nothing wrong with it and it was customizable. I didn't have to have the Recommended for You" section on my homepage. Except now it's there all the time and everyone's recent activity is being shoved in front of my face and everything is all jumbled together.(And I really don't see why the subscription's page is on a different page and not on top of everything else like normal)
And I REALLY don't like how that dumb bar constantly gets in the way. Especially with it opening up when you do nothing to trigger it. and then there's the autoplay that you have to turn off manually, and it dosen't stay off by default.
Come on, I thought you learned your lesson with this during the stupid beta player.
This change doesn't affect me since I was always able to make a video over 15 minutes long. But I'm glad the limit was increased for other video makers.
Wow, an update by YouTube that's actually good. I'm impressed guys, people have been asking for an higher time limit for videos for years now, so I appreciate the fact you guys have now been able to do this. Granted I don't do videos, least not at the moment anyway, so it doesn't mean much to me but I know a lot of people are going to really enjoy this. So thank you for doing at least one update in the past couple of months that has actually been perfect.
Please put up a blog post explaining the thought process behind the playlist bar at the bottom, because I'm absolutely baffled as to how it could have been seen as a good idea. I know people ALWAYS complain when theres a change to the youtube interface, but this is different.
I found creating some documentary videos they ran just over the ten minutes which meant editing out some of the good bits.
As for Copyright music I think some owners are a bit paranoid over this. I bought Pinnacle Studio and use the included tracks in the software for background music only to find some are flagged by Youtube for copyright. Yes I agree with Copyright in so much as I wouldn't use a James bond movie track in my video for instance. Some of the lesser known tracks I would of thought the viewer would relate it to the movie like it, and more than likely given the opportunity to buy it. Has to be a plus for the copyright owner. What do you think guys?
As an online educator who uploads classes, this is FABULOUS and SPECTACULAR news!!!! Thank you Youtube for this... By the way, I'd like to request a feature for partners (like me): that we can upload an intro sequence of no more than 5-10 seconds, and that it could get embedded automatically in the beginning of all videos. Thanks and keep doing great!!
This is great news! For a broadcaster who uploads hours of feeds on JTV I tend to struggle when it comes to uploading long clips to YouTube. Thanks to this I will be able to do that without having to cut off good bits or sit down and spend hours editing content. Good one YouTube! Keep up the good work!
I made a video and posted on Youtube to show my love for the USA. I'm not American. This is incredible, love beyond borders.I'm living proof that you can love another country. I'm doing publicity about love, let's say no to xenophobia. Bring peace to the world, and the Internet is the greatest way to reach those people seeking a place to gather crops in democratic accountability by giving the right to freely manifests and gives opinions, ideas and thoughts.Visit my channel,''douglasemmanoel''Thanks http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_D98kervNA
I know this is off topic but PLEASE PLEASE remove the grey auto bar on the bottom. Its ridiculously annoying to many users, or at least give us the option to turn the feature off. Thanks.
This is a STEP in the right direction. It's not 60-120min, which it SHOULD be, but it's an improvement. 30 minutes would be a far better compromise. 15 minutes is, frankly, insulting to Youtube customers. The queue bar is great, but it doesn't behave currently - needs to stay minimized unless actively clicked on. Autoplay seems to have a mind of its own and often does not stay on. Biggest problems currently: 1) each new video does not play full screen. 2) The previous resolution preference is ignored 3) Still no stop button to break the download. All three are glaring omissions easily fixed, if Youtube will simply employ better decision-makers less indifferent to its customer's concerns. I'm speaking from roughly 25 years experience supporting end-users in one form or another.
"PLEASE keep it at 15 minutes" Please don't. Make it at least 30 minutes, or 60. Better yet, unlimited.
"wow ... nice too know , thanks to your new censorship system , somehow you were able to change the upload limit to 15minutes ! makes perfect sense ! i guess that means horray for censorship !!!"
Finally a good comment. People shouldn't be happy about just 5 minutes when it comes at this price.
Copyright is stupid, you shouldn't let those people ruin this site with that idiotic content ID system. Come on youtube, fight them. They are the enemies of mankind, don't be afraid of them, they are the bad guys, not your users. Start lobbying against unreasonable copyright laws immediately instead.
...What is this "comment as" thing? Why can't I comment using my YouTube ID???Why do I need another registration???? Lame...
PLEASE, PLEASE work on fixing that ANNOYING, new Auto Play bar. Many, MANY users do NOT like it, and cannot find a way to PERMANENTLY disable it (It keeps coming back).
Honest it would NOT be as ANNOYING if it did not AUTOMATICALLY 'pop-up" after clicking on a subcription video. If it just stayed as a minimized bar unitl called for, it would be quite tolerable.
Do a search on youtube on remvoing autoplay bar and you will see MANY dissatisfied youtube users coming up with work-arounds to disable it because it cannot be PROPERLY disabled.
Thank you very much as a user with a lot of 2 parters because they were just 3-5 minutes to long this is fantastic news! I've already taken advantage with my latest video it is very much appreciated! Youtube user RazMansReality
great. Hey how do i permanently get rid of the "Your subscription" bar at the bottom of the watch page? It is the most god awful abomination. It opens up if your cursor gets past halfway down the browser window, covers up comments when i'm trying to read them, GOD FORBID i should want to leave a comment with out the thing popping open and making me inadvertently navigate to another video. And Whose bright idea was it to default auto play to on???
There's a serious problem with the YouTube website at present (video example). This has been widely reported on Twitter, etc. May or may not be related to the 15 min update.
Great news. Please also do something about "Recommended for you". I see recommendations for videos that has been removed long time ago, are not available in my country or is rated so bad that anyone does not want to see them. I see these recommendations a lot.
This is cool and all but this 15 minute limit is still hurting us creative folks out here who wish to upload our own home made long form (1 hour+) video that was created by ourselves! We who follow the rules and do not abuse the system by uploading copyrighted content should have the video time limit removed if we formally request it and a review of our account shows that we are in good standing with no strikes against us! YouTube is punishing the entire community for the abuses of a relative few! Surely you can see my point here! Granted, YouTube is a free service and they have made GREAT strides in the past 5 years but this is one area where they are just backwards in their thinking. As for video types that are long form, things like independent film, lectures, teaching videos, community events, civic functions, faith based content and the like are all reasons why long form is important but does not necessarily fall under the heading of the partner paradigm with it's attendant monetization being a factor in attaining partner status.
I for one hope that YouTube is working on a review system just as I described for those of us who want to do long form without any interest in monetizing our content or where monetization would not be applicable or appropriate (IE faith based video) YouTube is a GREAT site with a lot of heart but sadly, they are falling behind the 8 ball on this issue!
I LIKE THE GRAY BAR. It's true, the autoplay ON by default was annoying, but now this is "fixed", and it's ok.
Moreover: I thought that the gray bar was just unnecessary, but 5 minutes ago i realized how it improves the "quick playlist" thing, aka the "queue", aka "quick list" (i dont' remember th old name of the feature, you know that list you creat clicking on the little plus on the thumbnauil of the videos). That was a weak feature of youtube, for several reasons, but now, thanks to the gray bar i must admit it's easier and more usefull to use.
Why not throwing away the limit for users who are at least 2 years on YouTube? I mean, the ones which upload Copyrighted material are never longer than 1 year before suspension, so the fair people could have no limit at all, while the Copyright uploaders won't get it.
If you're giving us longer time limits on our videos, let us have a bigger file size at least. 4gb maybe? I can't post a vlog thats in 720p HD and is only 13 minutes :( Its 3.2gb
Stuart, you need to compress your videos better. I have a few full length 720p movies on my hard drive that are about 6-7GB. 13 minutes should not be that large. But, I agree that they need to increase the size limit.
I made a video and posted on Youtube to show my love for the USA. I'm not American. This is incredible, love beyond borders.I'm living proof that you can love another country.I'm doing publicity about love, let's say no to xenophobia.Bring peace to the world, and the Internet is the greatest way to reach those people seeking a place to gather crops in democratic accountability by giving the right to freely manifests and gives opinions, ideas and thoughts. This is the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_D98kervNA
I am so pumped that this has finally happened... A lot of the films I upload are over 10 minutes each which has now forced me to start making shorter ones. But now that it's been switched to 15... Feels like my dreams have come true!
Great! Will it maintain the same video quality, or are you going to compromise on it?
ReplyDeletehey that's cool, thanks
ReplyDeleteis it good idea to upload 15 min video for now? for just limited time only?
ReplyDeleteExcellent news! Eh, wait a minute! Does this mean that we will have to wait another 5 years to be allowed to publish further 5 extra minutes? :) Cheers, guys!
ReplyDeleteIf your Content-ID system is so state-of-the-art, why keep a time limit at all?
ReplyDeletethank you guys so freaking much!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteso how long will it take for an hour long videos> just asking
Awesome news for regular users. I'm glad to see it. Though few have the patience to watch a video over 5 minutes let alone 10 or 15. It is nice if you are uploading footage of a long talk, less parts to break it up into.

ReplyDeleteSo this limit was just to stop people from uploading TV shows? I suspected as much.
ReplyDeleteIf you make it 30 minutes for episode parody makers, I'd love you even more.
ReplyDeleteAbout time 15-minute uploads were allowed. It only took us, what, two or so years to get this?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely one of the better changes on the site.
Thank you so much, this is fantastic news!
ReplyDeleteYES! Something finaly good!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! :))))
ReplyDeleteFirst!!! and Woo! Longer videos!
ReplyDeleteSweeeeeeet =)
ReplyDeleteAwesome 15 minutes should be alot easier to work with :D Thank you

-wcooper97 : )
Yay! I'm sooo excited to start uploading longer vlogs!
ReplyDeleteFINALLY
ReplyDeleteCOOL! I love YouTube :D
ReplyDeleteGREAT!
ReplyDeleteLove you Youtube!
YES!!!!!!!! FINALLY! THANK YOU!!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is good news Youtube.
ReplyDeleteSounds good. Keep up the great work guys!!
ReplyDeletenice
ReplyDeleteEspecially for HD vids, longer time = bigger file size. So, is the 2GB file size limit increasing too?
ReplyDeleteWoot you guys are awesome :D
ReplyDeleteThat's great. Although in all honesty I'm still wondering why the Next In queue doesn't work for user playlists if you open the video from the user's channel. It used to be this way, but not anymore - save for Partner videos.
ReplyDeleteJoshua,
ReplyDeleteThis is FANTASTIC news especially for my audience of bloggers that love YouTube to do marketing on their blogs. I have let my readers know and I hope one of them is featured in the 15 Minutes of Fame promotion..

ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU SO MUCH YOUTUBE!!!!

ReplyDeleteThank you guys!
ReplyDeleteIf I'd like to compete with my video is hungarian language a problem? Subtitles maybe?
Does our video for the "15 minutes of fame" project have to be the full 15 minutes? or can we be much shorter at 4 to 6 minutes?
ReplyDeleteI don't care, just remove that stupid gray bar and turn autoplay back off. Who the hell actually wants autoplay? It's so incredibly annoying, and it can't be turned off! Fix it!
ReplyDeleteThis. Is. Awesome!
ReplyDeleteYES WE CAN.
ReplyDeleteFirst
ReplyDeleteI´m Trying To Upload A Video, Is 15:14 Seconds... I´m Already Trying To Cut The Video But At Least The Best Long Will Be 20 Minutes Intead 15.
ReplyDeleteThis is quite meaningful. I've been planning on making some lengthy art, but this extension removes what had me hesitating.
ReplyDeleteBut if the reason for doing this is faith in the ContentID, why isn't the limit completely removed? That would enable great creation of amateur movies would benefit the movie industry finding new talents. I personally would have use for making 25 minute works, but 15 is still an improvement.
Now let's work towards making it unlimited!
ReplyDeleteYESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
ReplyDeleteHmmm... it would seem that 15:00 minutes IS the limit, rather than 15:59 like it was for the 10 minute limit.
ReplyDeleteSo now that we've gotten longer time, does that mean higher audio quality and 60fps are next?
good
ReplyDeleteGreat News!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
Definitely a significant upgrade! Fifteen minutes is a nice slice--particularly for promotional videos. Thanks You Tube! :)
ReplyDeleteAbout friggin time this was enforced. Now I won't have to edit my videos as much to force it to fit.
ReplyDeleteFINALLY something useful
ReplyDeleteOMG yes! The first good thing YouTube has done in a LONG time! Thank you! This means so much to me because nearly half of my over 200 videos have a Part 2 (3, 4) to them because of the 10 minute limit!
ReplyDeleteAwesome :D
ReplyDeleteFantastic! This will help me phenomenally for future video projects. Thanks, YouTube!
ReplyDeletethanks for increasing the limit... but what about that annoying underbar? You've made no announcment about it.... and no one really wants it
ReplyDeleteI think it's great that the limit is now 15 minutes. But the argument why you increased the upload limit now is total gibberish.
ReplyDeleteYou increased the upload limit because the copyright tools were getting better?
I'm sure all of your developers understand this post... we the users don't understand it.
I know this is probably the wrong sort of attitude to take towards good news like this but... only an extra 5 minutes?
ReplyDeleteYou should really support linked videos. Like when a video is split into 3 parts. Be able to watch them back to back.
ReplyDeletenice!
ReplyDeletep.s. first
Now please, replace that black bar with the old autoplay on the side. There was nothing wrong with it, and it actually let you turn off autoplay indefinately. ReplyDeleteThat is just great Google i can do mini documentaries now. Love and equality for all :)
ReplyDeleteFantastic... i sure all users waiting for this... I hope someday it will be more than 15 minutes but its very good start... Thank you YouTube Team
ReplyDeleteYoutube is NOT the best place to upload videos with false flaggers.
ReplyDeleteSo it WAS entirely a matter of attempting to protect copyrighted materials. Now as long as fair use law is considered, as well as basic sanity checks employed, we might stand a chance...
ReplyDeleteThis is something I've been craving for for a long time. Thank you YouTube. Hopefully with less problems with copyright issues, we can extend the limit even longer in the future.
ReplyDeleteAwesome update.
yes! finally!
ReplyDeleteYES.
ReplyDeleteFINALLY. AN UPDATE THAT BENEFITS THE USERS.
Due to this update, my account glitched and i can't upload vids. :(
ReplyDeleteOkay, good. Now fix every other fucking thing you idiots have changed on this site.
ReplyDeleteTurn the AUTOPLAY feature OFF by DEFAULT!!! I want to replay some parts of the vids im watching, so its really irritating to have to wait to hit the back button again from some vid that i might not watch then, this is so painful for us users with a slow internet connection...
ReplyDeleteI'm really happy about this! Thanks YouTube. :D
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU!!! :D
ReplyDeleteThis is the best thing you guys have done in a long time.
ReplyDeleteSo is this a solid 15 minute limit, or like the 10 minute limit are we allowed to go up to 15:59 to compensate for recording software margin-of-error?
ReplyDeletejust tried an 11:54 vid that was rejected due to length :-(
ReplyDeleteyay! for 4 whole extra minutes.
ReplyDeleteThat's neat and good, and as soon as I develope a long-enough attention-span to sit down and create something 15 minutes long, I'll be glad you made the option of uploading it.
ReplyDeleteGood on ya!
Your "state-of-the-art" Content ID system is a disgusting abuse and giant slap in the face of a little something called Fair Use. But it's obviously youtube doesn't give a damn about Fair Use.

ReplyDeleteI love the idea.
ReplyDeleteToo bad you didn't increase the size as well, now there will be longer movies in similarly quality whereas a bigger size limit could have allowed for higher quality movies.

ReplyDeleteThanks.

ReplyDeleteThank you so much! This is the best upgrade you've made to your site in a long time.

Please give the option to remove the queue bar at the bottom of the screen, it's very annoying!!! As it pops up to easily!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, why have the time limit at all? Few people upload 10 minutes as it is, why not just ditch the limit?
ReplyDeleteI do not upload videos on YouTube, but I'm surely happy with the news. Thank you. Keep on improving!

ReplyDeleteYEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSS THANK YOU THANK YOU YOUTUBE FINNALY
ReplyDeletehehehe thank u so much
ReplyDeletehope one day we will have unlimited time, 15 minutes still limits some audiovisual ideas a lot
ReplyDeleteThis is a very exciting update!
ReplyDeleteThanks youtube! :)
ReplyDelete*SwordGames
About damn time.
ReplyDeleteYay! It's about time the limit was increased, thankyou.
ReplyDeleteOH THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!! AND THANK YOU!!!! YOU LOVE YOU!! AND THANK YOU!!!! WE ARE FRRRRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!! GOD BLESS YOU!!!! THANK YOU!!!! THANK YOU!!!! OMG THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYey! Finally.!
ReplyDeleteThanks for increasing the time limit. I'm sure many users will take advantage of this right away. Personally I like to keep my tutorials under 3 minutes because that's about all my audience can sit still for. Everyone is so busy these day. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteGreat! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhy do you people keep messing about with the play list options? Now I have an amazingly annoying pop up at the bottom of my screen which doesn't seem to have the random player function.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what it is you people think is the appeal of your site?
JUst additional 5 mins? Well at least it's better than no increase at all.. nice. :)

Sounds cool... but is this permanent or temporary?
ReplyDeletegreat news we can now upload our videos in full as before we split them into 2 parts!
ReplyDeleteBEST. UPDATE. EVAR.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for this!
ReplyDeleteA brilliant decision.
You're kidding, right?
ReplyDeletemake it an hour
ReplyDeleteyay :) im reallyhappy about this :) but what about the other things like the "other chanels " feature and the "autoplay " feature .I have taken advantage of these features since we already have them . But i think you should reserve those and all of the other partner advances to the youtube partner and not be letting all youtube users have them because, Partnership is something you have to work for and those were 2 major things i wanted when i become a partner
ReplyDeleteThis is FANTASTIC!! Let's hope the upload process is not compromised.
ReplyDelete15 minutes?
ReplyDeleteCome on.
Half an hour at least.
omg thx to YT its soo cool
ReplyDeletenice! ;) I like the new limit.
ReplyDeleteI noticed you didn't mention the bar which comes up under the videos. I hope you remove that immediately... Or at least allow me to turn it off, foor good!
This is great news :)
ReplyDeleteWow, four more minutes! That almost seems significant.
ReplyDelete15 Minutes it's good ... but all people wait YouTube NOLIMIT (Size and Time).
Thank you SO much YouTube for this and all the other things you do for us YT users :)
ReplyDeleteThats a very good and nice feature.
ReplyDeleteThanks Youtube.
Watch at my channel:

There I made my first 15 minute video.
Lg, LDR°
How for those who have director accounts? It seems that those with older ones have unlimited time for uploading. I have video content up to 3 hours and I rather not break them into chunks.
ReplyDeleteExcelente!!!
ReplyDeleteFirst here, it's nice to have 15 minutes more and no more tabs on the firefox, thank you for upgrading Youtube & Google
ReplyDeleteAlways love u
Well done!!!
ReplyDeleteA great comment from Digg.com's gusterbear:
ReplyDeleteYouTube needs to stop being retarded. They could have time frames that fit the account type:
Free:
- Default user: 10 minutes
- Pro User: 30 min
Paid (with a nominal yearly/monthly/length over X min fee)
- Short film maker: 1 hr
- Film maker: 2 hour
etc.
I say nominal fee because if you can charge $20-$40 a year for ad-supported films, and more for ad-less films, you get more people and make money.
wow...this a great news for video geeks.
ReplyDeleteFantastic!! Nice change.
ReplyDeleteHello, I wish to report a parental control exploit. Using sports illustrated minisodes as an example: You start out at season III, episode I. You put the browser in fullscreen, and skip to the end of the video. Wait, and the next video plays, even though it is banned for people under 18.
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely fantastic. PLEASE keep it at 15 minutes. So much more can be shown. Thank you
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome great job Youtube!!
ReplyDelete:D
ReplyDeleteA good number I think. Question, Is there a minute leeway as with the previous 10(11) minute limit?
ReplyDeleteWOW! really? all this year i been telling people they cant do more than 10min. than you made it 15min. (o.O) you all ROCK!
ReplyDeletewahh!! this is a good news. Been waiting for this. Thanks Youtube :)
ReplyDeleteHow do I turn off the autoplay que on the bottom? I hate it.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good start...but need to do something about false copyright claims.
ReplyDeletewow ... nice too know , thanks to your new censorship system , somehow you were able to change the upload limit to 15minutes ! makes perfect sense ! i guess that means horray for censorship !!!
ReplyDeleteSweet! I was just wondering the other day if YouTube would increase their length limit... But, PLEASE get rid of the new playlist bar at the bottom. SOOO ANNOYING!!! (Especially on netbooks with extremely limited vertical screen real-estate!)
ReplyDeleteOh, cool. Now get rid of that fugly gray bar that nobody ever asked for.
ReplyDeleteWhoa, I'm surprised you guys actually did this. I wonder when PowerDirector will get a patch out to allow the longer video time.
ReplyDelete15 minutes? Argh, give us unlimited or you are so poor? Other similiar sites to YT give considerably more. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is exciting and all, but this looks like the only change you've ever made upon comminuty request. What were you guys doing when everyone was outraged by the new channel designs? The new YouTube design? Now there's this new and highly annoying autoplay bar at the bottom of the screen that nobody ever wanted or asked for. Clean up all those mistakes and then I'll be happy.
ReplyDeletethats good
ReplyDeletebut please give us a option of turning that annoying playlist bar at the bottom
what was wrong with the old playlist feature?
Why'd you change the homepage? There was nothing wrong with it and it was customizable. I didn't have to have the Recommended for You" section on my homepage. Except now it's there all the time and everyone's recent activity is being shoved in front of my face and everything is all jumbled together.(And I really don't see why the subscription's page is on a different page and not on top of everything else like normal)
ReplyDeleteAnd I REALLY don't like how that dumb bar constantly gets in the way. Especially with it opening up when you do nothing to trigger it. and then there's the autoplay that you have to turn off manually, and it dosen't stay off by default.
Come on, I thought you learned your lesson with this during the stupid beta player.
Nice. Good to see YT catching up with the times ;-)
ReplyDeleteDoes this mean the limit on file size has increased?
ReplyDeleteThank you YouTube , We Love You YouTube
ReplyDeleteGracias YouTube, te amamos YouTube
Merci YouTube ,nous vous aimons YouTube
شكرا لك يوتيوب,نحن نحبك يوتيوب

^_^
Fuck YouTube and their stupid autoplay
ReplyDeleteThis change doesn't affect me since I was always able to make a video over 15 minutes long. But I'm glad the limit was increased for other video makers.
ReplyDeleteWow, an update by YouTube that's actually good.
ReplyDeleteI love you Google !!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Youtube! You've just made everyone happy with this move. This should really be good & shorten parts when uploading things.
ReplyDeletePlease put up a blog post explaining the thought process behind the playlist bar at the bottom, because I'm absolutely baffled as to how it could have been seen as a good idea. I know people ALWAYS complain when theres a change to the youtube interface, but this is different.
ReplyDeleteI FUCKING HATE AUTOPLAY, IT KEEPS POPING UP AND I RAGEEEEEEE
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff Youtube.Well Done!
ReplyDeleteI found creating some documentary videos they ran just over the ten minutes which meant editing out some of the good bits.
I can upload 16 min Video? just over 1 min
ReplyDeleteI think 30 min will be ideal
ReplyDeleteAs an online educator who uploads classes, this is FABULOUS and SPECTACULAR news!!!! Thank you Youtube for this... By the way, I'd like to request a feature for partners (like me): that we can upload an intro sequence of no more than 5-10 seconds, and that it could get embedded automatically in the beginning of all videos. Thanks and keep doing great!!
ReplyDeleteThis is great news! For a broadcaster who uploads hours of feeds on JTV I tend to struggle when it comes to uploading long clips to YouTube. Thanks to this I will be able to do that without having to cut off good bits or sit down and spend hours editing content. Good one YouTube! Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteThanks!!!
ReplyDeleteI made a video and posted on Youtube to show my love for the USA. I'm not American. This is incredible, love beyond borders.I'm living proof that you can love another country. Please let us disable the ANNOYING subscription bar that you also added!! I absolutely hate it and it makes me not want to even visit the site.
ReplyDeleteI know this is off topic but PLEASE PLEASE remove the grey auto bar on the bottom. Its ridiculously annoying to many users, or at least give us the option to turn the feature off. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThis is absolute great.
ReplyDeleteThis is a STEP in the right direction.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading.
-Greg / Negative Washout (an aeronautical design term)
Good news for the non-partners.
ReplyDelete"PLEASE keep it at 15 minutes"
ReplyDeletePlease don't.
Lame...
Hi youtube,
ReplyDeleteThanks for upping the time limit.
However..
Do a search on youtube on remvoing autoplay bar and you will see MANY dissatisfied youtube users coming up with work-arounds to disable it because it cannot be PROPERLY disabled.
wtf?what if shane dawson will release degrassi 3 and it will be 20-25 mins long? youtube doesn't think
ReplyDeleteThank you very much as a user with a lot of 2 parters because they were just 3-5 minutes to long this is fantastic news! I've already taken advantage with my latest video it is very much appreciated! Youtube user RazMansReality
ReplyDeleteWhere did my comment go??? I was the first one! grrr.
ReplyDeleteGreat... now we got an extra 5 minutes for video time... it's a start. I'm looking forward for new time in the future.
ReplyDeletegreat.
ReplyDeleteThen why not make it 30 minutes?
ReplyDeleteAbout time you did something useful and not pointless and horribly annoying like the toolbar
ReplyDeleteBug on YouTube: 500 Internal Server Error
ReplyDeleteThere's a serious problem with the YouTube website at present (video example). This has been widely reported on Twitter, etc. May or may not be related to the 15 min update.

ReplyDeleteGreat news.
ReplyDeletePlease also do something about "Recommended for you".
I see recommendations for videos that has been removed long time ago, are not available in my country or is rated so bad that anyone does not want to see them. I see these recommendations a lot.
Nice, i love to hear myself talk so this is perfect.
ReplyDeleteThis is cool and all but this 15 minute limit is still hurting us creative folks out here who wish to upload our own home made long form (1 hour+) video that was created by ourselves!
ReplyDeleteI for one hope that YouTube is working on a review system just as I described for those of us who want to do long form without any interest in monetizing our content or where monetization would not be applicable or appropriate (IE faith based video) YouTube is a GREAT site with a lot of heart but sadly, they are falling behind the 8 ball on this issue!
As Bison would say, YES!!!....YES!!!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting ...
ReplyDeleteI LIKE THE GRAY BAR.
ReplyDeleteIt's true, the autoplay ON by default was annoying, but now this is "fixed", and it's ok.
ReplyDeleteI mean, the ones which upload Copyrighted material are never longer than 1 year before suspension, so the fair people could have no limit at all, while the Copyright uploaders won't get it.
BS, Music beats YouTube any day.
ReplyDeleteYou have no idea how much I love you right now.
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. This is a nice step forward for Youtube and its users.
This will make a lot of people happy to know
ReplyDeleteIf you're giving us longer time limits on our videos, let us have a bigger file size at least. 4gb maybe? I can't post a vlog thats in 720p HD and is only 13 minutes :( Its 3.2gb
ReplyDeleteSo, what would the VIDEO size be? 2 GB?
ReplyDeleteStuart, you need to compress your videos better. I have a few full length 720p movies on my hard drive that are about 6-7GB. 13 minutes should not be that large. But, I agree that they need to increase the size limit.
ReplyDeleteWill you still allow grandfathered director accounts to upload longer videos?
ReplyDeleteI made a video and posted on Youtube to show my love for the USA. I am so pumped that this has finally happened... A lot of the films I upload are over 10 minutes each which has now forced me to start making shorter ones. But now that it's been switched to 15... Feels like my dreams have come true!
