I like this, but there's no question most that people won't. There is also no question that the people who won't will tell you with copious amounts of swearing and questioning your employee's intelligence.
I have loved all of the other recent Google redesigns, but I find this Youtube one horrible. I can see less content on the page at a time, the grey background with black fonts looks horrible...it all kind of just looks thrown together. Sorry guys, but I'm turning this off for now, look forward to see future revisions.
PS My bad. Actually, those private playlists weren't private, just that I didn't select them to be show in the current channel design. So, yeah, those public playlists appeared on the Cosmic Panda layout because they weren't private, just not listed on the current channel design (I only have the Uploads playlist and Favorites playlist shown on the current channel design).
I would still like to provide feedback on the channel design, but I can't 'cause the feedback tool says it isn't able to provide feedback on the page (the same thing happens on the watchpage).
Let me be exceptionally clear. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES IS THIS TO BE FORCED ON YOUTUBERS...EVER. For those who like it, they are more than welcome to keep it. For those who have put up with the beta to the point where they don't ever expect the alpha to return, allow them to retain it. That's where you went wrong the first time, by shoving a downgrade down our throats. Learn from your mistakes with the beta and please don't waste our time with excuses like you can't support two versions. How much profit did Google make last year? How many employees is it hiring this year? You have plenty of money. DO NOT FORCE THIS CHANGE ON US. Allow us to choose.
The blue "Feedback" button isn't working for me. "Unable to deliver feedback for this page." it says.
Can I leave it here?
Comments on a video's page: - What first came to sight was that the 'Flag as inappropriate' button looks somewhat out of place but more importantly, ambiguous. The video explanation is inappropriate? The top comment?
-The top comments I think would look better under the video replies. It visually looks interrupted by the video replies section. But keep the section, its entertainment content that generates itself.
- The video replies looks like it could show two replies accommodated horizontally for better use of space. It even allow for a nice space between them
The Channel page -Lots of changes! For now I'll just mention that Favorites is not available to choose as a playlist option if I want to display them in any form in my channel, which i would miss.
The ability for a channel to have a distinct look is minimized in the new design. Except for the background which has been reduced to a small sliver, all channels will look like CLONES.
I just started using it and I like it very much. I love the dark slick look, it's more... resting to the eyes. I like how the comments are shown now, it's not confusing anymore. Something that I would like to see in the future: Short fluid video preview of videos when hovering over them. That would be... insane (in the good way). Thanks google.
First - why can't you send reports from channel pages? Second - If you ask me, it takes too many clicks to navigate to channel comments page, can a shortcut or something be added to main channel page?
This is a step in the right direction! Now if only Youtube had an option to dim everything in the background (even a users desktop) except for the active video like some other video sites.
It looks nice. Defo a huge upgrade over the previous design. Much more sleek and modern looking. Any idea on when us Partners will be able to have there branding banners back on? As of now you can only change your background and avatar.
keep it :) this interface is absolutely gorgeous. I love the auto-hide progress/control bar, the general layout, it's a million times more beautiful and attractive than the "old YouTube". Keep the good work guys, I've seen a lot happen @Google in recent days and I'm enthusiastic, thanks ;)
lovin the new layout!!! The black looks slick... Actually having the option to change the screen size is amazing .... can't wait for this to be the permanent new look! I'm hooked!
I'd really love it if the previous subscription box was put back in place. The one in which the videos disappeared when watched so that the whole display is much less cluttered. Even better would be a way to switch between the two depending on preference.
Aren't there any customizing possibilities for partners any more? That's sad, because I miss my large Banner with its links and additional design opportunities o__O
Here is my review, complete with a commented screen capture. I mostly like it but there is new one problem you added and a few old ones they didn't fix.
My only real concerns are that the changes seem to hurt NEW upcoming youtubers.. For instance not having the related videos be mostly from the person that posted the video sucks because now it doesn't encourage the viewer to find something new from some one else that might not be as popular. I've gotten a lot of new subs by commenting on other tubers videos, having good content and having related videos that show up on larger youtubers pages.
Also the new design does NOT promote going to the channels...which is a big driver for content creators.
It's not all bad.. the design is awesome, the streamlining is good but again much of this hurts tubers trying to grow their audience without resorting to cheap tricks.
The channel design is really ugly, no options to customize it and that was one of the characteristics by which the page was good, if really YouTube thinks in the REAL users would leave the channels as they are all in the same page without having to navigate over 3 clicks just to see the comments in the channels, but who cares what I think or what think some thousands if all you care about is money you can win and that without us THE REAL USERS OF YOUTUBE don't make money for the companies who feed him?
I hate youtube design changes, the older one is always the better one in my opinion. Where can you comment on a profile and where's the PM-Botton?! If aren't avaible any more, I'm completly against this change, because it's very important for the most people... The actual design for profiles is great, because it shows everything at once, but you need to click around to see everything in the new one... The video-display is the only thing which improved... which sucks in my opinion. I hope they won't change the design. -.-
Lots of good things for a magazine programme like the one we put up. We can now seriously consider producing the programme as a series of items in a playlist called *This Week's Show* rather than one chunky 30-minute piece. However, could YouTube consider treating *Uploads* as a playlist? And could we move playlists up and down a list so that, for example, we can put *This Week's Show* at the top of the page and *Uploads* below it.
I *hated* the previous layout, but this is a vast improvement over it. The only thing I don't like, however, is the design of the channels.
First, the giant video thumbnails under the Featured tab, for whatever reason, just look awkward to me. If anything, you could shrink them a bit, putting them back from seven to six and then putting two on each row.
Also, it's quite hard to navigate there as well. I've seen many people now ask where comments are, among other things - by the way, click on Community then View Comments - which should say something about the design. You really could fit it all on one, maybe two pages: first, have the featured videos like I described above, at the top in two rows with smaller thumbnails. Then have the (smaller) thumbnails of the most recent videos, with an option to expand that list to see all of them. All that Recent Activity stuff could go on the right sidebar, or you could create a left one if that gets too crowded. And again, with the option to expand that as well so you don't have a gargantuan Channel page.
One last note: the one feature I'd like to see again is the rating being displayed when a video is linked from the Suggested Videos, Most Viewed lists, etc. It really helps me know beforehand whether or not I will be wasting my time. You could just put in the % likes out of total ratings or something like that.
All in all, aside from the Channel page, this was really well done. Good job on this one!
Again, to reinforce what I said before, NEVER force this change on anyone. ALWAYS give users choice to stick with what they have. If you are trying to convince people it's worth a look than what you need is maximum custom options, including those lost in the beta. Users should be able to move anything they want on their page to anywhere on their page. The option must remain for subscriber icons, subscription icons, friends icons and channel comments to appear on channel pages and, WITHOUT EXCEPTION, watching a video that's not in a playlist must NEVER lead to autoplay of other videos. Autoplay is, has been and will always be a glitch. Once a video ends, it ends. Unless the user is watching a playlist, no other video should start playing, EVER. You will save yourself a lot of grief by dropping the autoplay on an individual video and presuming that someone watching an individual video wants to watch other related videos in sequence. It totally defies logic and intelligence to do so.
The new interface is pretty cool... although I would prefer these options in the Future:
-The Ability to Create Custom Templates/Move Templates -The Ability to adjust the opacity and colors of the channel page -The Ability to change fonts... perhaps as HTML5 gets more widely used by the people there could be support for HTML5 custom fonts -The Ability to minimize the playlist under the video on the video pages
I love it. I cant wait until its finally released. There's literally only two things I don't like which is the fact that when you're watching uploads or a playlist, the videos auto-play & on the channels there is no transparency and color choices, other than that I LOVE IT. I've been using it ever since it became test-tube official. I think people should stop complaining about irrelevant things, such as "zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz" did.
I'd actually be OK with this if the thumbnails weren't so big. If you can put the thumbnails to a more manageable size (roughly 1.5x bigger than the current ones would be good), I'd be good with the rest of the site layout. Hopefully you take this feedback into consideration, otherwise I'll be done with your site.
Another timely reminder--and I'll continue to give them on a regular basis--to NEVER force this on people. Google's second quarter profits were not only impressive but beat analyst expectations. Your parent company has the money to maintain both the current setup and any future setup. Don't let arrogance or the self-importance that comes from thinking you know what people want, even when they tell you the opposite, to result in force-feeding something I'm clearly telling you not everyone wants. You also need to explain to your employees about the illogic of autoplay for non-playlists. Based on the help forum, they appear either incapable, or unwilling, to accept that concept. You will save yourself tons of grief by never introducing something as counter-productive as that. Autoplay is a GLITCH. Remembering that, and the ABSOLUTE NECESSITY of never forcing a new design on everyone, as was the case when the beta was made mandatory, is essential. You're still getting hate comments nearly two years later and for good reason. Learn from your mistake, don't repeat it.
Hello YouTube Partner here, well I just had a fast look and was afraid I would get stuck in Panda, world so I harried back to the real YouTube world....
As far as I could see it did not look like we had to much customizing options unless I miss them...The layout looks kinda dull and the text was really light do I have options to change them?...I will go a bit later and try it out again...I hope this feedback was helpful......Thank you YouTube you guys are the best
Right now I think I rather have the YT layout I have but unless our
l like it. There's more white space. lt's not as cluttered. The only thing l don't like is how my partner channel looks. The custom top banner l made is gone. l hope we can organize our page and videos like before. Right now it's showing my most recent videos first in a big screen. They look grainy and they're not my best videos. l'd like people to see my best videos on the top.
I don't like the fact that autoplay was removed. This will cause all small partners to make even less. And, bigger partners will also lose out. Also, No channel banners or side image? That's my favorite part of being a partner.
I'm a youtube partner. I understand the concept, but unfortunately, not so impressed. I agree that the thumbnails are too large, and I think they should be on the right, not left. I get a lot of traffic from "related videos" and this new layout will almost surely reduce that traffic. I know you are trying to make it so that the video is featured more, but the old way of doing it actually works quite well. I understand the concept of blacking out the background around the video, but white works too.
I think that the most important thing you can do to help us all, is to do more work around creating easier access to an uploader's/partner's video collection. I like the concept of the videos scrolling across the bottom. Not sure if that is THE solution, but making our videos more accessible once someone lands on a video would be, in my opinion, the most important improvement you could make.
I Am a Partner and this is, What I find to be NOT cool:
1.can't watch feature video on channel. 2.No Comments on the channel itself. 3.Forced playlist. 4.Related video's are not showing up. 5.Adding a vid response ? 6.I'm logged in, the suggested video's say I should watch myself. 7.Channel comments (that are not on the channel) are mixed with bulletins(also not on the channel), very un-cool 8.No option to turn off subscriber list on "community" page. 9. all videos on video page are in a playlist, don't like that at all. 10. No option to turn of favorites from video page. 11. Featured Channel icons are WAY to big. 12.No matter what "Template" you set, you still have to hunt what your looking for, it's to spread out. 13.no matter how you "brand" it, it still kinda "bland" 14. options in "settings & info" have been cut WAY back, not much of a choice there.
I'm a youtube partner and I do not like the new channel design. If you you like the videos looking like some VEVO channel, fine. But PLEASE DON'T change the current channel layout!!! ....or at least give us the option to choose which layout we want for our channel.
My take on it is that it's great idea to ask us what we think of the new interface first, before making the leap. I do find it somewhat appealing, but it seems to me that when ever YouTube makes changes to the over all look and function of even the most minute aspect of their layout, this change usually affects the already buggy functionality of YouTube altogether. I believe changes should be done slowly, and when the changes do occur, ensure that all functions are working as they should. I also believe we partners should be given the ability to customize this new interface as we see fit, and easily be able to change back to the old layout if need be "AT ALL TIMES" now, and way after the changes take place, if the changes do take place. Hoping for the better :)
The most important thing to fix is the trolls help us get rid of trolls please stop allowing blocked users to vote, if they are blocked they are a troll and we do not want them thumbing down everything fix thumb-down spammers first who cares how it looks fix the problems with the community features first stop all the hater troll spammers
It has potential, but the new channel page is extremely confusing. It's missing a lot of features and really doesn't make it any easier to look at/find things etc...
Also don't like that it just won't remember my settings at all. When I click on 'expanded view" it reverts back to normal view whenever I click on something else.
Miss a lot of profile info now as well.
And just overall hate I now have to search for so much and just don't know where really in my channel. Have opted out because it felt like a huge step backwards instead of forward.
Sorry but the new look is awful, just like with the new G-Mail you're testing, you've spread everything out too much. People want to be able to find stuff easily, not go through 3 more clicks to get where they got in 1 click before.
- No comments on main channel page, that's +1 click. - New video thumbnail size is unnecessary and silly looking, especially on channel pages. You can't see every videos unless you scroll all the way down and click view all...once again making people do more. - The "+" subscribe button on the video pages needs to go, why take away the "Subscribe" button for a plus sign? - Comments on video pages blend in with the video info box. - Hardly any Partner branding options, is this unfinished or will all Youtube channels look the same?
Those are just a few of many bad changes. Scratch this template and start over, if you're just dying to change the design then go with a cleaner looking template (softer new buttons, edges, etc.) but please don't make drastic changes like this when everything works and looks fine.
To Cosmic Panda team: I am looking for an app / service/ other software that will allow a user to upload or sync his/her playlists with Youtube. Imagine, you have a playlist of 2k songs and this software would translate that playlist into a youtube playlist, searching for the videos that match the songs as they appear in your playlist. That would make Cosmic Panda kill ANY competition or make it stand out above the rest
Nice try but you can do better. First, why a white and grey "gif" as a background? Do some coding an let us choose our own colors and percentage as we can with our current layout. Give us some options so we can be creative. And while you're at it, give us all the ability to put banners at the top of our pages.
How about fixing stuff in YouTube before you invest any more time with this experiment? After more than six years of 'friends' appearing in chronological order (the order in which they became friends) on people's channels, someone has decided to randomize it, instead. This is totally without logic. Please restore the friends list to chronological order or give users the option, rather than deciding for us the order in which it should appear. If you can manage that, please do likewise with the subscribers list, which has been broken for two years. Formerly, it was also in chronological order, from the time someone subscribed. That's no longer the case. Thank you.
Oh yes, cosmic panda is amazing. Thank you thank you thank you. The only thing I'm wondering right now is "what took them so long to make a functional and not ugly youtube"
I loved Cosmic Panda! why did you toned it down somewhere in the last two days? The new version looks to me like an unpleasant cross between Cosmic Panda and the old Youtube (no disrespect intended).
Well, I tried the experimental Panda viewing experience but did not really care for it so much. To me it seems that the watching images on a screen should remain a rather "bright" venture. Perhaps beause this is just a test or still in beta mode, maybe the resolutions seem a bit dull. I try to use nice colors even on my own YouTube videos, like the one in this sample below. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EDxeufiwQI
http://www.youtube.com/user/CodigoGeass
sorry but I completely hate it, the question I am asking myself is: Why update something that don't even need updating? and why make the layout look so "thrown together" it is just too cluttered, you cant even see much at all and hardly any customizability. Where's the transparency? where is the "change font" button? to be honest and this is my opinion, i hate it no matter what you do to it I just think it is pure disgusting and why change something that everyone loves?. Another question I ask myself is this: why make a forum for you're "fans" for output when you dont listen? When you were bringing the beta out no'one wanted it but you didnt listen and brought it out anyway. What I also hate is the fact that you pretty much force people to use the layout so thats what I think of it.
WHO LIKES THIS CRAP? I had 225 bands and artists as official friends, and YT stole my CHANNEL CONTENT without my knowledge or consent. There was an outrageous amount of disapproval to the beta of this and they still dumped it onto us. THIS AINT FACEBOOK. Its youtube jerks. LEAVE MY CHANNEL ALONE! The complaints over the friends list removing are breaking records. There are 1000s of business and professional interests on youtube INCLUDING BANDS that used the friends list for promotion and support. I havent found one single thing user friendly about anything they have stuck on me in the last 6 months, including the damn "google account" which is proprietary monopolizing. Only an idiot would go for anything this invasive, this unuseable, and this ILLEGAL. Maybe you dont have friends. Maybe you dont have a purpose or a profession behind your channel. For those of us that do, THIS IS CRAP!
FREAKING IDIOTS! THE COSMIC PANDA CHANNEL DESIGN SUCKS! Let the ones who like the new design keep it. As for the people who prefer the older design, LET THEM KEEP THAT OLD DESIGN! Please.
This new channel desigh is REALLY SHITTY! It sucks! It's ugly and it's inconvenient! PLEASE let all of us who love the old design keep it! And why did you kill friendlists? That is REAL SHIT! I HATE it like many many others!
This took away many Partnered features, and I love interacting with my audience in my comment box. But CP ruined it making it harder to navigate things.
Bad FORCED new design, bad or impossible way to contact other You Tubers, Incredibly stupid way to post comment to channels, all is turning bad bad bad bad, Old dewsign back or a lot we'll leave. Many of us gift our art in a free way to YT so let us a bit of comfort before we find a better place...Paul
I LOVE IT! I WANT IT NOW!
ReplyDeletevery different, certainly will take time getting used to.
ReplyDeletei like the creators template for the channel.
I like this, but there's no question most that people won't. There is also no question that the people who won't will tell you with copious amounts of swearing and questioning your employee's intelligence.
ReplyDeleteI have loved all of the other recent Google redesigns, but I find this Youtube one horrible. ReplyDeleteLooks great, but i can't see videos with it. where the video should show, it shows transparent box which shows part of my desktop. i'm using mac.
ReplyDeleteCosmic Panda is amazing! Nice work YouTube team :)
ReplyDeleteWe especially love the new Channel redesign, but the whole thing looks great. Can't wait for changes to start going live in the upcoming months.
And this just makes the Google+ roll out about twice as exciting!
wanna know what? i love this new experience :) every thing about User friendly :) Keep it up don't stop :)
ReplyDeletei really like this but i would like to see a template for youtube partners
ReplyDeletethank you.
I like it, but it doesn't really fit with the rest of Google's redesigned UI. Keep the panda-ish look but flatten it out like G+ or Gmail Preview.
ReplyDeleteWe need more customizing options for our channel.
ReplyDeleteOk, I don't like the new layout, so PLEASE CAN ANYONE SHOW ME HOW TO GO BACK TO OLDER VERISON? On my PC i CAN'T FIND THE OPTION TO GO BACK TO IT!
ReplyDeleteUNA PORQUERIA
ReplyDeletePS My bad.
ReplyDeleteI would still like to provide feedback on the channel design, but I can't 'cause the feedback tool says it isn't able to provide feedback on the page (the same thing happens on the watchpage).

ReplyDeleteI did a video review on it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dV8_-TS9qq0
ReplyDeleteThe blue "Feedback" button isn't working for me. "Unable to deliver feedback for this page." it says.
ReplyDeleteCan I leave it here?
Comments on a video's page:
- What first came to sight was that the 'Flag as inappropriate' button looks somewhat out of place but more importantly, ambiguous. The video explanation is inappropriate? The top comment?
-The top comments I think would look better under the video replies. It visually looks interrupted by the video replies section. But keep the section, its entertainment content that generates itself.
- The video replies looks like it could show two replies accommodated horizontally for better use of space. It even allow for a nice space between them
The Channel page
-Lots of changes! For now I'll just mention that Favorites is not available to choose as a playlist option if I want to display them in any form in my channel, which i would miss.
The ability for a channel to have a distinct look is minimized in the new design. Except for the background which has been reduced to a small sliver, all channels will look like CLONES.
ReplyDeleteIt seems like they pretty much retought the Channelpage and realigned the Video page, making it less crowded and removing some clutter.
ReplyDeleteinternet marketing
On Opera the video player remains static on the screen while scrolling.. please fix that :D
ReplyDeleteI just started using it and I like it very much. I love the dark slick look, it's more... resting to the eyes. I like how the comments are shown now, it's not confusing anymore. Something that I would like to see in the future: Short fluid video preview of videos when hovering over them. That would be... insane (in the good way). Thanks google.
ReplyDeleteFirst - why can't you send reports from channel pages?
ReplyDeleteSecond - If you ask me, it takes too many clicks to navigate to channel comments page, can a shortcut or something be added to main channel page?
This is a step in the right direction! Now if only Youtube had an option to dim everything in the background (even a users desktop) except for the active video like some other video sites.
ReplyDeleteWhy you disable to comment "COMMENTS" in the profile channel?
ReplyDeleteInstead of simplicity you show everything on single page. It's not nice.
ReplyDelete0 Comments?!
ReplyDeleteanyway, great job! The only thing you guys should change are the top comments and uploader comments bar, i don't like the way they look.
One question, i want the video's in full hd, now i have to click on 720p all the time, would be easy if it goed automatic!
ReplyDeleteIt looks nice. Defo a huge upgrade over the previous design. Much more sleek and modern looking. Any idea on when us Partners will be able to have there branding banners back on? As of now you can only change your background and avatar.
ReplyDeletekeep it :) this interface is absolutely gorgeous. I love the auto-hide progress/control bar, the general layout, it's a million times more beautiful and attractive than the "old YouTube". Keep the good work guys, I've seen a lot happen @Google in recent days and I'm enthusiastic, thanks ;)
ReplyDeleteI like this new look, the only thing I would change is that it is pretty hard to see how much of the video has been loaded.
ReplyDeleteDark grey over black is really hard to see!
Great,
ReplyDeleteale testube powinno być lepiej widoczne
lovin the new layout!!! The black looks slick... Actually having the option to change the screen size is amazing .... can't wait for this to be the permanent new look! I'm hooked!
ReplyDeleteWhere is the comments in the channel? and we need more custom options on our channel..
ReplyDeleteI'd really love it if the previous subscription box was put back in place. The one in which the videos disappeared when watched so that the whole display is much less cluttered. Even better would be a way to switch between the two depending on preference.
ReplyDeleteIt will be nice to have an option to disable video and listen just the music from Youtube...:D
ReplyDeleteAren't there any customizing possibilities for partners any more? That's sad, because I miss my large Banner with its links and additional design opportunities o__O
ReplyDeleteHere is my review, complete with a commented screen capture. I mostly like it but there is new one problem you added and a few old ones they didn't fix.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.claussconcept.com/a-quick-and-dirty-review-of-the-new-youtube-ui-cosmic-panda/
ReplyDeleteAlso the new design does NOT promote going to the channels...which is a big driver for content creators.
It's not all bad.. the design is awesome, the streamlining is good but again much of this hurts tubers trying to grow their audience without resorting to cheap tricks.
This is an awesome work! Love the interface...The comments section needs some change, I feel...
ReplyDelete-aneesh-
www.sarayoo.info
There's a giant flashing ad right next to the video. I though the purpose of this redesign was to keep the video in focus.
ReplyDeleteThe channel design is really ugly, no options to customize it and that was one of the characteristics by which the page was good, if really YouTube thinks in the REAL users would leave the channels as they are all in the same page without having to navigate over 3 clicks just to see the comments in the channels, but who cares what I think or what think some thousands if all you care about is money you can win and that without us THE REAL USERS OF YOUTUBE don't make money for the companies who feed him?
ReplyDeleteI would like to test it out but don't want to be 'stuck' with it. Let us know how to revert back if we wish.
ReplyDeleteI still don't get it - where are my "Favourites" videos?
ReplyDeleteI really like most of the stuff like the 4 video size buttons.
ReplyDeleteI hate youtube design changes, the older one is always the better one in my opinion. -.-
ReplyDeleteLots of good things for a magazine programme like the one we put up.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely dislike it! Watching videos is uncomfortable, especially on users' channels! Luckily I could still change back to the old look.
ReplyDeleteVery, very nice improvements. I'm not opposed to have this one forced on me, lol.
ReplyDeleteI *hated* the previous layout, but this is a vast improvement over it. The only thing I don't like, however, is the design of the channels.
ReplyDeleteFirst, the giant video thumbnails under the Featured tab, for whatever reason, just look awkward to me.
The loading bar is comming up on all videos in the cosmic panda style. How do I change it back to the old version?
ReplyDeleteAgain, to reinforce what I said before, NEVER force this change on anyone.
ReplyDeleteThe new interface is pretty cool... although I would prefer these options in the Future:
ReplyDelete-The Ability to Create Custom Templates/Move Templates
-The Ability to adjust the opacity and colors of the channel page
-The Ability to change fonts... perhaps as HTML5 gets more widely used by the people there could be support for HTML5 custom fonts
-The Ability to minimize the playlist under the video on the video pages
I hope you consider my feedback. Have a good day.
I like it! but I can't figure out how to post Video Responses... the option to post a video response doesn't show when you click the comment box :/
ReplyDeleteCan I have old player back, Google? Because, you see, it's 21-t century here, and the player where controls slide over the video - IS DAMN HORRIBLE!
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing, how a big corporation such as Google makes such a blunder.
Once this goes fully public I'm switching to veoh or dailymotion
ReplyDeleteI also want the old player, I prefer to video controls always visible, the new way is a pain in the ass, thank you!
ReplyDeleteI love it! I've only found a flaw ... some of the videos do not display information.
ReplyDeleteI like it. I would love to keep it.
ReplyDeleteI love it.
ReplyDeletethis is first design change on YouTube in 3 years that I like.
ReplyDeleteI'd actually be OK with this if the thumbnails weren't so big. If you can put the thumbnails to a more manageable size (roughly 1.5x bigger than the current ones would be good), I'd be good with the rest of the site layout. Hopefully you take this feedback into consideration, otherwise I'll be done with your site.
ReplyDeleteAnother timely reminder--and I'll continue to give them on a regular basis--to NEVER force this on people.
ReplyDeleteHello YouTube Partner here, well I just had a fast look and was afraid I would get stuck in Panda, world so I harried back to the real YouTube world....
ReplyDeleteAs far as I could see it did not look like we had to much customizing options unless I miss them...The layout looks kinda dull and the text was really light do I have options to change them?...I will go a bit later and try it out again...I hope this feedback was helpful......Thank you YouTube you guys are the best
ReplyDeleteplease just do this as soon as possible. youtube currently looks so bad, like, myspace bad. this is going to be great!
ReplyDeleteI don't like the fact that autoplay was removed. This will cause all small partners to make even less. And, bigger partners will also lose out. Also, No channel banners or side image? That's my favorite part of being a partner.
ReplyDeleteI'm a youtube partner.
ReplyDeleteI think that the most important thing you can do to help us all, is to do more work around creating easier access to an uploader's/partner's video collection. I like the concept of the videos scrolling across the bottom. Not sure if that is THE solution, but making our videos more accessible once someone lands on a video would be, in my opinion, the most important improvement you could make.
I love the new look on my channel. Very clean and simple.
ReplyDeleteWhen can Partners permanently enable this on their channel?
Thanks.
I Am a Partner and this is,
ReplyDeleteWhat I find to be NOT cool:
1.can't watch feature video on channel.
2.No Comments on the channel itself.
3.Forced playlist.
4.Related video's are not showing up.
5.Adding a vid response ?
6.I'm logged in, the suggested video's say I should watch myself.
7.Channel comments (that are not on the channel) are mixed with bulletins(also not on the channel), very un-cool
8.No option to turn off subscriber list on "community" page.
9. all videos on video page are in a playlist, don't like that at all.
10. No option to turn of favorites from video page.
11. Featured Channel icons are WAY to big.
12.No matter what "Template" you set, you still have to hunt what your looking for, it's to spread out.
13.no matter how you "brand" it, it still kinda "bland"
14. options in "settings & info" have been cut WAY back, not much of a choice there.
I'm a youtube partner and I do not like the new channel design. If you you like the videos looking like some VEVO channel, fine. But PLEASE DON'T change the current channel layout!!! ....or at least give us the option to choose which layout we want for our channel.
ReplyDeleteMy take on it is that it's great idea to ask us what we think of the new interface first, before making the leap.
ReplyDeletei love it, but there is no need for "Created by"
ReplyDeleteon the channel.
The most important thing to fix is the trolls
ReplyDeletehelp us get rid of trolls
please stop allowing blocked users to vote, if they are blocked they are a troll and we do not want them thumbing down everything
fix thumb-down spammers first
who cares how it looks
fix the problems with the community features first
stop all the hater troll spammers
stop haters from voting if they are blocked
ReplyDeleteIt looks really nice but it'd be nice if videos could be played on your channel and you could scroll through your videos in your playlists.
ReplyDelete"Who cares how it looks, as long as it's easy to use." That about sums it up.
ReplyDeleteEvery re-design since version 1.0 has been a misguided attempt to fix a user experience that was never broken.
I hate it. How can I use the old one?
ReplyDeletethe new youtube is strange =s
ReplyDeletebut check this out :)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-EXdZeA6izA
why are there no channel views?
ReplyDeleteIt has potential, but the new channel page is extremely confusing. It's missing a lot of features and really doesn't make it any easier to look at/find things etc...
ReplyDeleteAlso don't like that it just won't remember my settings at all. When I click on 'expanded view" it reverts back to normal view whenever I click on something else.
Miss a lot of profile info now as well.
And just overall hate I now have to search for so much and just don't know where really in my channel. Have opted out because it felt like a huge step backwards instead of forward.
Love it, dont know why some are hating it. :D
ReplyDeleteLooks great, but the comment box should have a different color than the video description, looks kind of confusing.
ReplyDeleteThere's no channel views, friends, or colors! Fix that!
ReplyDeleteGreat Job. Add more channel customization and a unique type of commenting
ReplyDeleteOh and it's running smooth as hell on Chrome 15 :)
ReplyDeleteMore channel customization please!
Sorry but the new look is awful, just like with the new G-Mail you're testing, you've spread everything out too much. People want to be able to find stuff easily, not go through 3 more clicks to get where they got in 1 click before.
ReplyDelete- No comments on main channel page, that's +1 click.
This is the stuff of the gods!
ReplyDeleteSimply amazing! You'd be sinning not to like the Cosmic Panda!
ReplyDeleteIt's not awful, it's just different, if you don't like it go back to the old one. The only thing that needs (ALOT) more work is the channels.
ReplyDeleteNice try but you can do better. First, why a white and grey "gif" as a background? Do some coding an let us choose our own colors and percentage as we can with our current layout. Give us some options so we can be creative. And while you're at it, give us all the ability to put banners at the top of our pages.
ReplyDeleteHow about fixing stuff in YouTube before you invest any more time with this experiment? After more than six years of 'friends' appearing in chronological order (the order in which they became friends) on people's channels, someone has decided to randomize it, instead. This is totally without logic. Please restore the friends list to chronological order or give users the option, rather than deciding for us the order in which it should appear. If you can manage that, please do likewise with the subscribers list, which has been broken for two years. Formerly, it was also in chronological order, from the time someone subscribed. That's no longer the case. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteYouTube should go in the direction of G+ like Picasa/Gmail/Docs/Calendar. Clean and well done interface with conections to other Google stuff.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Cosmic PANDA is EXELENT mode of work.....THANKS YOUTUBE.....THANKS|THANKS|THANKS|THANKS
ReplyDeleteOh yes, cosmic panda is amazing. Thank you thank you thank you.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I'm wondering right now is "what took them so long to make a functional and not ugly youtube"
Why isnn't this already added to YouTube. This so amazing.
ReplyDeleteI loved Cosmic Panda! why did you toned it down somewhere in the last two days? The new version looks to me like an unpleasant cross between Cosmic Panda and the old Youtube (no disrespect intended).
ReplyDeleteWell, I tried the experimental Panda viewing experience but did not really care for it so much. To me it seems that the watching images on a screen should remain a rather "bright" venture. Perhaps beause this is just a test or still in beta mode, maybe the resolutions seem a bit dull. I try to use nice colors even on my own YouTube videos, like the one in this sample below.

how to make the old il get feedback from the channel I want to cancel my going in from Turkey
ReplyDeleteCommon dude ...
ReplyDeleteI want this new Panda look. Now it dissapears everytime I quit my browser.
http://www.youtube.com/user/CodigoGeass
I sense convergence. The viewing experience greatly resembles Hulu. And rightly so.
ReplyDeletesorry but I completely hate it, the question I am asking myself is: Why update something that don't even need updating? and why make the layout look so "thrown together" it is just too cluttered, you cant even see much at all and hardly any customizability.

ReplyDeleteWHO LIKES THIS CRAP?
ReplyDeleteGoddamnit, why did you remove all the size options for the video player? It's too small now and I can't make it bigger <.<
ReplyDeleteWhere was gone Cosmic Panda?? :((((
ReplyDeleteIt's irreplaceable in big screen condition.
FREAKING IDIOTS! THE COSMIC PANDA CHANNEL DESIGN SUCKS! Let the ones who like the new design keep it. As for the people who prefer the older design, LET THEM KEEP THAT OLD DESIGN! Please.
ReplyDeleteGreat channel I really like the designs out there! ....
ReplyDeleteThis new channel desigh is REALLY SHITTY! It sucks! It's ugly and it's inconvenient! PLEASE let all of us who love the old design keep it!
ReplyDeleteAnd why did you kill friendlists? That is REAL SHIT! I HATE it like many many others!
This took away many Partnered features, and I love interacting with my audience in my comment box. But CP ruined it making it harder to navigate things.
ReplyDeletenew layout2 are 2h*t, we want the old layout back.
ReplyDeleteBad FORCED new design, bad or impossible way to contact other You Tubers, Incredibly stupid way to post comment to channels, all is turning bad bad bad bad, Old dewsign back or a lot we'll leave. Many of us gift our art in a free way to YT so let us a bit of comfort before we find a better place...Paul
ReplyDeleteGreat job! The only thing you guys should change are the top comments and uploader comments bar, i don't like the way they look.
