Video resolutions
have been increasing across YouTube, and the sizes of your embedded players are bigger than ever. But until now, video preview images in today’s larger players (e.g. the image that appears before you click “Play”) haven’t kept up with your high-quality and larger videos.
Any new video uploaded to the site in a resolution of 480p or higher will have an HD preview image wherever the player is embedded. The difference is even more striking with larger embeds (which don’t fit on this blog), so try it out yourself and see what we’re talking about. Here’s an example:
Before:

Now:

We’ll also automatically give HD preview images to older videos in the next few weeks, as long as they’re 480p or larger. A note for partners, if you’ve uploaded a custom preview image for your video, you’ll need to re-upload a new one for your videos in order to upgrade it to HD (1920 x 1080px, 2MB max).
Logoless player
Many of you have asked us for a version of the YouTube player without a YouTube logo, so the video plays without any branding nearby. We’ve now added a simple option to do it. At the end of the video URL in your embed code, just add the code ?modestbranding=1 and the player will show without the YouTube logo in the control bar. Note that a small “YouTube” text label will still show up in the upper-right corner of a paused video when you hover over the player. We’ve published the
full list of the player’s possible parameters, and here’s an example:
We hope these features help you show your videos the way you want them to be seen.

cool
ReplyDeleteAWESOME!!
ReplyDeleteGotta love the HD preview images! :)
ReplyDeletePersonally, I like the idea of the YouTube logo in the embedded player - it's not that intrusive and takes up barely any room and it's nice to give that little bit back to you guys.
Thanks, I've always wanted better preview images.
ReplyDeleteNext step: Make the thumbnail selection range be more than just 3 images please~
HD Images for HD Starcraft. Love that
ReplyDeleteinteresante
ReplyDeleteThe YouTube logo has never bothered me. In fact, it's insurance that my old PC can *play* the video, unlike the stuttering and clogginess I get from other services' embeds.
ReplyDeleteStill can't add videos to playlists from embeds. Goddam it YouTube. And this should've already been implemented AT LEAST! 2 years ago. its 2011 not 2009. And make it so I can add videos to my Playlists as I am a Playlists Power User. And dont have to keep loading the source pages.
ReplyDeleteThat's great, it'll be nice to be able to see what your going to watch a little bit better before you watch it. Next perhaps custom thumbnails could be rolled out to more users, it would really help many of us non partners get our videos noticed. I suppose there would be abuse of this but I'm sure there could be a system worked up to solve this.
ReplyDeletelololol it's a SC2 game.
ReplyDeleteinterested. thank you Google & Youtube
ReplyDeleteStill shows up if you switch to HD :( Any ideas how to disable that?
ReplyDeleteWell never bothered me really, as I'm new in the field. Off to try it out
ReplyDeletecan someone please post the entire code for how to embed this player...i don't know what im not freaking understanding but i can't seem to get this work out and it's really pissing me off. thanks

This is fantastic.

ReplyDelete?????????????
ReplyDeleteI don't understand what Google is talking about. When I select modestbranding=1, instead of the small YouTube logo on the control bar, I get a HUGE YouTube logo in the lower right hand side of my video for the first few seconds of play. How is that modest?
ReplyDeleteI like this feature but I'm not (yet) a pro user.
ReplyDeleteI use embedded videos (html) which works good, except that embedded videos doesn't work on iPad :(.html5 media player
My friends and families use iPad when I share them my website, and they can't see all my embedded videos. I would love to be a pro user someday but can't afford it at the moment.
Hope this could be worked on as well.
thanks for the information....
