I find this really interesting and eye-opening. I feel the exact same way about my phone. I've been accessing the web from my phone and I find it extremely useful and fun. But when I stop to think for a moment, I realize that I'm actually using my phone. This really made me feel that technology is evolving so fast and is still growing. It's really hard to believe that phones these days are actually becoming like mini computers and it's really making me wonder how far we are going to go. It is even more mind-blowing that now a virtual connection can be made from our phone to our computers. I would not be surprised if we eventually got to using a TV screen as our display from our phones.

I tried using youtube remote app to control the youtube.com/leanback that I had open on my PS3 . Even if in both places I had signed in, it does not work. Was it only suppose to work on PCs and Google TVs and NOT on PS3???

Exactly the same problem, one and a half year later.
      Please fix the PS3 compatibility!

The Connect button doesn't do anything in Google Remote. I suspect it has something to do with the fact that my YouTube account predates the Google acquisition, and is a Google-connected account instead of a straight Google account. Please fix this.

It would be cool if you could jump into viewing information about the video on your phone while it plays on the screen, as well as "Like" and "Favorite". So far I haven't been able to do that.

I have LG 47LW5600 and recently automatic update has updated the built in youtube app to allow it to be controlled by Youtube remote app on my LG G2X Android phone. The experience so far is very pleasing.

What is the protocol being used for YouTube TV pairing? Anymote? Websockets? DLNA??!

Can third parties develop remotes? I'd like to do a browser extension for laptops.

There's a new similar project around: YouTube Remore Controller OS.
It's an operating system which can be controlled by *any* browser of *any* smartphone or PC.
