Very complex yet real problem. We could talk short term solultions or long term ones, but the difficulity is that corporations have too much power. Any funds given to them must be accompanied by spending accountability.
The forces of money & power are interwoven. You can't talk about a crisis (or a solution) of one without talking about a crisis (and solution) of the other.

I E-mailed a radical sure solution for both the Economic Recession, Global Warming and Climate Change to former Pres. Bush, but it seems it was ignored. The stimulus package will not succeed and we will be back to the same problem again and probably worsts.

I am strongly opposed to the Stimulus. The government needs to back off and let free markets correct the problem. The only reason we are in this mess is because of government intervention supported by both parties and this bill will not help anything. This country was formed based on the ideals of free market capitalism and we will not prosper until we get back to those ideals.

I am very opposed to the stimulus bill, in all appearances it was simply a way for Senators and Representatives to get their pet projects done while claiming to be for the greater good of the country.

The stimulus package is a good move in trying to turn the economic wheel. However, I think with consumer debt in the trillions it will only stimulate the economy in terms of paying off debt. The tax credits give middle class people a break. However, it is not going to solve the problem of creating new jobs. We have simply dug ourselves into a rut with an economy based solely upon consumerism. I also am strongly opposed to American auto manufacturers getting more money because I don't know if they can outcompete Japanese ones even after "redifining"themselves.

If you really wanted to put together a stimulus package to help people it would have been a package to directly help companies keep from laying off workers.

    Dear Republicans,
Let me recount some of the things in the past that you guys have suggested. Putting our social security money in the stock market. Where do you think this would of put the average american? I think you guys are so out of touch with us poor people. I would love for you guys to live on a meager social security check for 3 months. You and many here in our county have blown there heads off because we are losing our way of life here in ohio. Maybe you should walk in the average or underaverage's unholy shoes today. Get your butt off of the nile and open your eyes in the daylight with both hands.
Yes. I can finally get my car insurance paid. How about that for stimulas plan?

I wonder if this will be enough monies? In August of this year I took $100.00 to the gas station. I remember a time when there was a sign: NO LARGE BILLS ... Hell after I got done with my purchases, I didn't get much back.
We are so outdated. We need transportation systems in our communities, the roads are falling apart. Sure seems like someone needs to get to work. There's a lot of work to go around. We need change...We are still relying on the same old same old. Let's us catch up and exceed other. We don't need to be reliant on gas from other counties technologies. countries. We are not a third world nation. We have the technology and education to bring these things to the forefront of our nation. Give the stimulus plan some time to work. Don't you believe we are the best nation in the world. I do! America's labor force is the best. Always has and always will. We have a lot to fight for our freedoms and liberty's. This is our nation's call of a challenge to make things better for our children....

I am one of the people out there that gets Social Security and will get $250. in late May from the government. This is a drop in the bucket. I am grateful for any additional money, but who thinks up these amounts. A $1000. or more would really simulate the ecomony. I also know that congress will say that $1000. will cost too much. Well how about not giving your self another raise this year (for Congress). You guys make too much anyway.

What was missing? The part where we prosecute each and every one of you for being totally incompetent. No, Really! You can just forget another term in office if you're in government at all right now...because you're either really stupid, or really corrupt. Stop stealing from us.

Let bad debt be liquidated and stop perpetuating the problem with "free" handouts which are really nothing more than a government TAKEOVER of our major institutions.

Get out of the way government because everything you seem to touch turns to *hit!

I don't think this stimulus plan will work it is another free loan from the taxpayers. Give every citizen of the USA $5,000.00 now that would stimulate the economy.

How long does it take to read a 1000 page doc on the internet. It takes a lot longer than 5 days, Barack that was some joke you played on the US citizens. I can tell you what to do in about 10 pages longhand. Congress is a joke, a bunch of millionaires trying to tell us what to do.

I would like to see you make it so that if you are an actor you have an actors page you have it for comic and director but nothing for actors or actresses.. I have premision to post things I have done in my career. I like adding my videos and showing them. There should be an entertainers page or actors not just catagorized as director of singer or comic...

You Dems said that the "Trickle Down" theory didn't work. What the heck do you think this is? This is the largest "Trickle Down" idea in the history of mankind. If you really want to help stimulate the nation and get it back working, lets try something new. I suggest that we try what I call "Perculate Up" theory, that is give the 2 Trillion to the masses. Heck if I'm going have to pay the taxes on it, I would like to get something out of it. If you give everybody this money instead of Wall Street and Detroit, you will see this money influxed into the economy a lot quicker. The banks, credit companies and the auto industry will get the money, but the people will have something to show for the taxes they paid to pay for the stimulus.

You people in Washington need to get into the real world, instead of living in a box.

The only thing this "pork package" is going to do is line the pockets of groups like ACORN and create more welfare in this nation---the down fall of this nation. When the government takes away the NEED to work and prosper it takes away dignity.

What a pathetic argument! As a Republican, I work full time AND take care of my 85 year-old U.S. Marine mom and I can assure you that I earn less than $30K/year. Is it easy? No, but I wasn't raised to expect Sugar Daddy Government to take care of everything, especially health care, which BTW, IS NOT A RIGHT. Owning a home is NOT A RIGHT. Go read the Constitution and see if you find anything in it that says otherwise. It's the liberals like you that feel you're ENTITLED to everything that is ruining this great country. Get off your fat ass, go get a job and stop depending on the taxpayers to support you.

The Generational Theft Act of 2009 (aka the "Stimulus" bill) is going to saddle our children, our grandchildren and probably their children for decades to come. If the folks in Congress really wanted to represent their constituents, they would have voted against this colossal pile of pork and would have started trimming the budget instead of spending like a 16 year-old with a new credit card.

Hey kss1505 . I agree 100% with you. That's the fundamental difference between conservative Republicans and liberal democrats...the Republicans work hard and want nothing from he government, except for rewards and incentives to prosper in order to live the American dream. We take pride in showcasing the fruits of our labors. The democrats, on the other hand, just want the government to take care of them and give them lots of freebie handouts.
IMHO, The Republican ideals represent best what our founding fathers envisioned for this great nation.
