We second the request to let us know what's going on with the uploading problems. It's been 12 hours since I uploaded a video and it's still not ready. I understand about glitches and technical problems but it would be nice to be kept in the loop about what's happening.
YouTube, why don't simplify thing, why don't you let people upload videos in the FLV (flash format) so you don't have to process anything, many of us can do the process ourselves at home, there are even free programs to do this, this wouldn't be easier for you?
Hey not to be as mean as some of these other people, but I too have uploaded a video yesterday, and it's still processing. Can y'all at least explain what the problem is so people don't go crazy on these comments. At least let us know you're working on the problem. Thanks!
I am a YouTube user and I really enjoy watching the millions of videos so many users upload there daily. They provide useful information, fun and amusement for all the YouTube and Internet community. We all definitely appreciate your service.
I understand your copyright policy and its terms and conditions. Unfortunately, it came to my attention that user channel lbracci has been suspended for allegedly not following that policy on one of its videos. Lbracci channel is an invaluable source of information for the country I live in, Venezuela. The videos on those channel are a basic source in a huge number of blogs, forums and other internet sites.
The video that apparently made YouTube taking the decision of suspending that channel was taken from a Venezuelan TVnetwork which HASN’T FILLED any complaint against lbracci YouTube channel. That Venezuelan TVnetwork (VTV) showed extracts from a video from spanish TV network ANTENA3. Lbracci recorded the video from VTV, and displayed it on his channel, but if there was a copyright violation was not by lbracci, but by VTV against ANTENA3’s copyrights.
On the other hand, YouTube displays around 3,000 videos taken directly from ANTENA3, so we simply cannot understand the complaint by ANTENA3 on lbracci, for uploading material from Antena3, not taken from ANTENA3 itself, but from a venezuelan TV network (VTV).
We strongly ask you to take lbracci channel back to its place, removing that only controversial vid if necessary, but clearly stating that lbracci has not been accused by VTV, which was the original source he recorded the material from, so according to us, the suspension of the channel (along with its almost half a thousand vids) is a extremely unfair sanction because he is not responsible for the material and its copyright protection that VTV broadcasts.

I just wanted to let you know, it seems you changed how things look a little when viewing your own playlists. But now it shows you the number of vids in a playlist with a dash and then the number. And now it is busy to read and it gives me a headache. I think it's the dash, it adds one more thing to track on the page and it makes i busier to read when you're scanning. I wish you'd change it back, I think before it might've been in parenthesis which was simple and intuitive. Thank you.
Hello, Please could someone tell me what's happened to the subscription center. Now when I look at my subscriptions only a handful of the newest videos show up, none of the 'older' ones...I'm missing watching SO many videos at the moment, and as I have quite a lot of subscriptions, it's not really feasible for me to click on every single one just to find out if they have added a new one. Please can something be done about this and put things back as they were? Pretty please? Thanks.

Unfortunately the 'explanation' on http://youtubestatus.blogspot.com/ exlains nothing. After 24 hours of waiting for a short video to upload it's hard to get excited about gadgets. Concentrate on the basics guys.
Goddamn! I uploaded a video yesterday on youtube and it still not working! This is not normal it takes to much time! I guarantee you this is a very bad publicity for you guys.
All is not well though. Just reported (once I could actually find the contact link) that 80% of my uploaded videos (I am uploading film trailers at the moment) once uploaded bring up the *previous* uploaded video's details, not the current details. Very frustrating as you have to start all over again. This may affect only people uploading a lot of videos. The good news is that the few that worked processed fast.
before you go adding new things goolgetube (c) you still need to fix plenty of things. It seems to me that you should fix the things which are broken here. I'm sure you have too many team to keep busy and that's the main problem for all the screwups around here. You have too many people workign on too many things at a time and it's not meshing well. Problem with big business today is that they tink they can just buy themselves into whatever they want and forget that it takes effort and planning. Google, slow down. Take things in stride and you will get vastly better quality of work performed.

PLEASE MAKE THE RECENT VIDEOS RECENT AGAIN. A 5 hour old video on the recent page is not my idea of recent. On page one of recent videos should be less than 5 minutes old.

I cannot view most videos from *.lax.youtube.com. The video will stay in loading mode and never actually load. The status bar will report something like "waiting for lax-v3.lax.youtube.com..." The problem has lasted a week so far.
Other people seem to be able to view the videos because comments have been left. But many of my own videos which I could previously view, are at this location as well.
On 'My Videos' it would be really good to have the page numbers listed on both top and bottom instead of just the bottom. It would make things easier than having to scroll right down to change pages. Just a suggestion and thanks for everything. Pro :)

And btw, what's up with limiting the subscription centre? Is that done intentionally so we watch less videos? Are you on anti procrastination? Just curious. How do you get the video on your profile to play automatically. It seems that some do and some don't, is there a feature that enables this?
if it's taking a while for your videos to process, the last time this happened, the trick was to change something, anything, in the videos description (add a period) and apply the changes and it would become viewable. don't know if it will work this time or not.

Another thing, I can say here, is that you should first fix some problems, like missing preview pics (I have one video with corrupted thumbnail) or wrong comment counters (Here, I have one vid, too) before you change mostly never-used features.
Finally, I think the only good change is that the search is now powered by Google...

OK! I noticed that the language option is already fixed, but now I saw, that in the comment option of all my videos is ticked "approve comments". If I try to change it back to "allow comments", it won't work...

Big problems with the new subscription bar. I love that videos actually disappear from the bar once I watch them, but there are several videos that were posted a few days ago that I didn't get to yet and they are off of the bar. The bar should not have a maximum capacity. I've also noticed views of my new videos have gone way down. If people have a lot of subscriptions they are bound to never see some of their videos. Please fix this as soon as possible. Thank you.

I agree with the other comments on this page about the Subscription Centre - it is broken and has been since around Monday. It now only shows a maximum of the latest 10 videos from the channels that you are subscribed to, and never shows any older "new" ones when you've watched the others - basically if you miss a "new" video because lots of the channels that you have subscribed to have posted videos or you've been away from YouTube for a few hours you'll miss new videos if 10 newer ones have been posted since. YouTube really needs to fix this.

I'm really sad if video views are lost forever, that was the one easy way to see how overall progress is going, who wants to add everything up! Please please please bring that back. I worked hard for those 3,640,000 views and I am proud of them. I really didn't need larger menu items anyway.
I'd like to see at least 20 listings on a search page. It had been 20, but now all of a sudden it's 10. Oh, sure, I see there's a way to expand it to 24, but then the descriptions are not available. And I'd like to see the tags put back on the search results page. Finally, once you're finished returning things to the way they had been, please give us an advanced search, with defaults stored in our accounts, for such things as always having search results come up in Most Recently Added sequence instead of always having to go through the Most Relevant page first. And a phrase search, so that if I'm looking for "Neil Diamond" the singer in a description, it has to appear like that, and I won't get something with a description like, "I took Jim and Neil skiing on Diamond Mountain."
I couldn't care less about igoogle I just want the site back the way it was. The search feature sucks now, you're making it harder to find videos. Sort it out!!

ReplyDeleteAnother thing, I can say here, is that you should first fix some problems, like missing preview pics (I have one video with corrupted thumbnail) or wrong comment counters (Here, I have one vid, too) before you change mostly never-used features.
Finally, I think the only good change is that the search is now powered by Google...

I love that videos actually disappear from the bar once I watch them, but there are several videos that were posted a few days ago that I didn't get to yet and they are off of the bar. The bar should not have a maximum capacity. I've also noticed views of my new videos have gone way down. If people have a lot of subscriptions they are bound to never see some of their videos. Please fix this as soon as possible. Thank you.

ReplyDeleteI agree with the other comments on this page about the Subscription Centre - it is broken and has been since around Monday. It now only shows a maximum of the latest 10 videos from the channels that you are subscribed to, and never shows any older "new" ones when you've watched the others - basically if you miss a "new" video because lots of the channels that you have subscribed to have posted videos or you've been away from YouTube for a few hours you'll miss new videos if 10 newer ones have been posted since. YouTube really needs to fix this.

ReplyDeleteI'd like to see at least 20 listings on a search page. It had been 20, but now all of a sudden it's 10. Oh, sure, I see there's a way to expand it to 24, but then the descriptions are not available. And I'd like to see the tags put back on the search results page. Finally, once you're finished returning things to the way they had been, please give us an advanced search, with defaults stored in our accounts, for such things as always having search results come up in Most Recently Added sequence instead of always having to go through the Most Relevant page first. And a phrase search, so that if I'm looking for "Neil Diamond" the singer in a description, it has to appear like that, and I won't get something with a description like, "I took Jim and Neil skiing on Diamond Mountain."
